On Friday 22 May we welcome alumna Caroline Mazaro back to the LAB. This Discourse meeting is one in a series of interaction with a wide range of researchers and artist, invited by Corpo-real students to explore the endlessly dynamic relationship between bodies and space, together as peers in the field.

Caroline Mazaro is a Brazilian-born architect and researcher working at the intersection of architecture, play theory, and participatory design, with a focus on how spatial environments influence behaviour and development. Mazaro is the founder of Mazá Arquitetura para Brincar, a studio dedicated to child-centred environments and participatory design processes. With this studio, she delivers workshops for families and professionals and continues to develop the framework for the eight developmental areas of play identified in her master's thesis at Corpo-real.
Her graduation project, Proprioceptive Play, investigated how children's toys and game-thinking can function as tools for collaborative design. Through structured workshops and the development of a mobile research system, MO.R.P., Caroline explored how play can structure communication, participation, and collective spatial imagination.
In 2026, Mazaro published the book Brincar tem Lugar: Como Organizar e Acomodar a Infância em Casa, translating her academic research into an accessible framework for parents, educators, and spatial practitioners.
Admission is free and registration is not required.
