With Arnhems Stadsatelier, we once again bring education, art and the city together

Once again this year, we are collaborating with Theater a/d Rijn, Plaatsmaken and The Hub on Arnhems Stadsatelier. In this second edition of the collaborative project, we explore new forms of exchange between art, audiences and society. Our aim is to make the Arnhem art scene more accessible and diverse.

Space for research and experimentation

Within Arnhems Stadsatelier, we offer makers the opportunity to conduct artistic research at various locations across Arnhem and to share this work with the city. The programme consists of one long-term city residency and six shorter residencies for emerging makers. There is room for experimentation, in-depth research and presentation, with guidance from the partner organisations.

Connecting with education

Arnhems Stadsatelier connects artistic research with education and the city. We involve students and teachers through workshops and research conversations, allowing the project to also function as a learning environment for future artists.

City Resident 2026: Frank Koolen

The City Resident for 2026 is artist and guest lecturer Frank Koolen. In his research project FIASCO TOTAAL, the creative process takes centre stage as a driver for play, dialogue and collective experiences. Humour, improvisation and disruption play an important role in his work.

Guidance for emerging makers

Alongside the city residency, six emerging makers work throughout the year at Plaatsmaken and Theater a/d Rijn. Each partner contributes their own expertise. Arnhems Stadsatelier is made possible by the Municipality of Arnhem and encourages exchange between artists, students and residents of the city.
