This seminar introduces students to medical music therapy and the coursework that informs the use of music therapy treatment strategies within inpatient populations as part of an interdisciplinary team of providers.
Participants will gain critical insight into the evolving healthcare landscape as it relates to medical music therapy, alongside a deeper understanding of current literature in the field.
This seminar is designed for graduate music therapy students (master’s level) and professional music therapists (PhD students are considered as professionals).
Day 1 — Intro to Medical Music Therapy and Arts in Medicine
Arts in Medicine: Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Music Medicine, and Art Applications.
Day 2 — Integration Strategies and Vignettes
Vignettes: Case examples from patient, family, staff, community, and administrative perspectives.
Day 3 — Leading through Art and Finale
