About the programme

The master Critical Fashion Practices at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem is a two-year programme. We believe in the possibility of multiple fashion systems and critically explore alternative, non-industrial modes and frameworks for making, doing, seeing and experiencing fashion and clothing.

By intersecting theory and practice and examining fashion’s language, images, networks, bodies and other manifestations, we aim to develop and realise alternative, affirmative approaches that redefine what fashion means within our social, cultural and economic contexts.

Who we are looking for

We welcome participants from a wide range of backgrounds: critical optimists who are independent and creative thinkers, who feel an urgency to research how fashion can play a fuller role in developing real social, cultural and economic alternatives, and who want to contribute to a more honest and equitable reality for everyone involved in fashion.
